Moon Blood

  powered by FreeFind

Have you ever wondered about the connection between your body's 28 day cycle and the cycle of the moon? Here's the theory. In the days before electricity, women's bodies were influenced by the amount of moonlight we saw. Just as sunlight and moonlight affect plants and animals, our hormones were triggered by levels of moonlight. And, all women cycled together. Today, with artificial light everywhere, day and night, our cycles no longer correspond to the moon. >> more

Rituals

"Mother's Life Force", the power that made women able to give birth. Sitting on the ground to give it back to the Earth is part of the whole thing...it came from the Earth Mother, and returning it to her is showing appreciation for the power granted by her.

Burn some Ylang Ylang or lavender oil, along with using the "painkiller" acupressure point, which is located between the thumb and fore-finger. All you have to do to activate this point is gently press it with your fingers until you feel a little pain in it. Over time the pressing wont hurt as much, but it sure relieves any bodily pain - including cramps!

You could have yourself a Red Tent party. [anyone read Anita Diamant's "The Red tent"?] Invite your sisters over to celebrate the miracle your body is performing
Start a Moon Blanket for your bed, which you use only when you have her Moon Time. Quilt it together and invited friends to do some stitching on it, it holds lots of good energy and memories for her.

A Ritual Spell for Pain Relief
If a woman is suffering with menstrual pains I have devised the following spell to relieve the pain. The woman should be naked, comfortably and try to relax as much as possible, then first charge your hands with energy, and lay your hands on the painful area. Gently in a widdershins motion, circle the hands massaging the pain away, see the energy being absorbed into the pain and dissolving it away thus:

Going, Going
Flowing, Flowing
Pain be gone
Pain now go
Blood will come
Blood will Flow

You can also anoint with soothing oil, in a suitable moon symbol, which will help the spell

Herbal Remedies
Start the treatments the day after the last day of your moon cycle. Continue throughout two complete cycles. Plus 14 days. Then break for 14 days so that you can see how your body reacts to treatments. All women are created different so try adjusting the following formulas to find one that suits your own body. Once you find a combination that works well for you, you can then use in moderation.

The following formulas can be used in several ways.
Mixed with 2 tablespoons base vegetable oil and used as a massage oil on the abdomen and lower back areas
Added as bath oil to daily bath.
Use a combination of both
